幾何学の基本的対象である曲線,曲面,空間の高次元化を進めて、一般次元の「多様体」と呼ばれる重要な数学的対象が導入されます. 多様体は,数学のみならず数理物理,工学,情報理論,経済学など広く種々の分野で現れます. 多様体の基礎理論やその上の幾何学や応用について教育しています.
