産業活動の地理的配置の観点から、企業のグローバルな経営行動と世界各国・各地域の経済社会問題について研究している。特に日系多国籍企業の立地展開と日本・アジアの国際分業の進展に関して考察を進めている。たとえば、日本企業が生産拠点をアジア新興国にどのように配置し、それが日本やアジア新興国の経済社会にどのような影響を与えるかといったことが検討すべき問題となる。地理学・経済学・経営学をまたがったユニークな学問である産業立地論の考え方を国際経済・国際経営の研究分野に応用しながら、「国際産業立地」という新たな学問体系を構築したいと考えている。
