Research subject summary
-
湖底などの堆積物中には水域環境だけでなく,人間活動を含んだ湖沼周辺の陸域環境の変化も記録されています.これらの堆積物の研究を通して,過去の環境や気候,人間と自然環境の関係史の解明に取り組んでいます.特に，地質時代における山火事の変遷，人の森林や草原への火入れ（山焼き），産業革命以降の化石燃料使用の歴史などについて，堆積物中の炭や粉塵を用いて解明しています．
