    Compressive Membrane Action: CMA is a well-known load carrying mechanism of slabs due to external restraint. As a countermeasure of salt attack into reinforced concrete slab decks, so-called steel-free bridge decks incorporated CMA have been constructed in Canada. First, three loading tests of concrete beams with/without an existence of both reinforcement and external restraint due to a steel plate, have been carried out to extract its essence as a compressive strut. Second, the material nonlinear finite element analyses relevant to the tests were sufficient to explain the test observations. Consequently, the numerical results could show clearly compressive strut formation and also its load carrying mechanism with a steel plate in tension.

    Concrete filled double steel tubular columns (CFDT in abbreviation) consist of two centric steel tubes and filled concrete between them. By the arrangement of inner tube, the own weight can be reduced in comparison with ordinary concrete filled steel tubular members. Centric loading tests on twelve specimens of CFDT were carried out. Observed failure mode was local buckling of both tubes associated with shearing failure of concrete. Axial strength of CFDT were agreement with or larger than accumulative equation consisting of two steel tubes and filled concrete. However, the larger inner-to-outer diameter's ratios, yield the smaller axial lnadinu canacities. Moreover. empirical equation of axial strength of CFDT was proposed.

    Concrete filled double steel tubular members (CFDT) consist of two centric steel tubes and filled concrete between them. By the arrangement of the inner tube, own weight can be reduced in comparison with concrete filled steel tubular members. Four point loading tests on twelve specimens of CFDT were performed. Experimental parameters are inner-to-outer diameter ratios and outer tube's diameter-to-thickness ratios. The purpose of this study is to investigate effect of inner-to-outer diameter ratios on bending capacities. Experimental strengths were good agreement with bending strengths calculated using axial load (N)-bending moment (M) relation, where N was equal to zero. Failure modes were local buckling and fracture of outer tube. The larger inner-to-outer tube's diameter ratios, yield the smaller confinement strength.

    径が異なる2つの鋼管を同心円上に配置し,両鋼管の間のみにコンクリートを充填した二重鋼管合成柱は,内鋼管内部が空洞となるため従来の鋼管コンクリート合成柱と比較して軽量となる利点を有する。そこで本研究では,鋼管コンクリート合成柱の重量と比較して,60%程度の二重鋼管合成短柱の中心圧縮実験を合計9体行い,二重鋼管合成柱の特有のパラメーターである内・外鋼管厚比が,同特性に与える影響について実験的に検討することを目的としている。
