生物はどのようにして生存に不適切な環境を乗り越えようとするのか、その分子メカニズムはどのようなものか、を大きなテーマとして研究を行っている。なかでも昆虫の光周性機構に大きな関心を寄せている。ハエ、カメムシ、コオロギ,ダニやナメクジなどさまざまな無脊椎動物を対象とした研究を行っている。
