日本の電力産業はいまや激動の時期を迎えている。一方では地球環境をはじめとする環境問題に直面する一方、「地域独占」が認められてきた当該産業分野に競争が持ち込まれて「自由化」が云々されるようになってきたからだ。私としては、こうした現状を理解するために、日本電力産業の歴史的な歩みを踏まえて考えていきたいと考えている。なお、その際には特に経営者をはじめとする企業経営の視点を重視する。/かたや、東大阪・八尾の産業集積を通じて、産業集積のあり方をも研究している。電力産業史との接点とは、企業規模に違いはあるものの、企業経営のあり方を考えられる点である。

商学部中瀬専門ゼミナール
テーマ：企業経営を歴史的に捉え、これからのあり方を検討すること
研究内容：現在ほど，企業経営についての議論が盛んなときはないでしょう。コーポレートガバナンス，株主の権利，社会的企業，効率性と公共性などなど。今回も，本ゼミでは，動かない事実、過去に対する視点を養いつつ，現実の企業経営について議論していきたいと思います。過去を捉える視点を持ち得れば、未来への志向，期待も膨らむだろうと考えるからです。
公益事業論：公益事業とは，私たちの日常生活に不可欠なサービスを提供する一連の事業のことです。一般的には電気、ガス、水道、鉄道、自動車道、バス、定期船、定期航空、郵便、通信、放送等を指すと言われています。これらの事業は安定的にサービスを提供するため，電線、ガス管、水道管といったネットワーク設備を必要とし，多額の投資が求められます。そのため独占事業によって利益を確保することが認められてきました。しかし，最近は価格を引き下げるため競争を導入しようともしています。そこで，本科目は，日常不可欠なサービスを安定的かつ持続的に提供することと価格の引き下げという衝突する点をいかにして達成するのかを検討するものといえます。
経営史：企業経営は，今日ほど社会的な存在であることはなく，多くの困難にも直面しています。そうした環境の中，企業はいかにして事業継続を図るのかを志向しています。経営史とは，そうした企業の事業継続性をいかにして高めることができるのかに対して，歴史的な視点から回答しようとするものです。具体的には，現在の企業経営が有する課題を把握し，なぜそうした課題を抱えることになったのか，その起源を追求することで，事業継続性を高めることを目指すものです。そこで，本授業では，以上のように，企業の事業継続性を高めることにつながるよう，今日の企業経営の抱える課題を具体的に示し，そこに至るまでのストーリーを講義します。受講生は，本授業を受講することで，自らが興味を抱く企業，企業経営についても，上述した歴史的な観点を踏まえて深く理解することができるようになるでしょう。
大学院経営学研究科経営史演習：現在および将来の企業経営のあり方を模索するために、過去の企業経営の事例を研究します。その際、以下の点に留意します。第1に、「経営史」のうちの「歴史」について検討します。ここで問われる「歴史」とは、年表のような編年史ではありません。提示者の意図のもとに構成された「歴史的事実」＝ストーリーをもった物語です。そうしたストーリーをもった物語、「歴史的事実」をどのようにして作るのか、どのような歴史的必然性があるのかを考えていきます。最近、グローバル・ヒストリーなるもの、地域史に対する関心が高まっています。こうした歴史学の現状にも留意します。第2に、企業経営をめぐる社会的な環境にも留意します。企業経営はそれ自体が単独に存在するわけではありません。企業を取り巻く社会的な環境に影響されるからです。以上のうえで，第3に、「経営史」のうちの「企業経営」について検討します。特に、今回はイノベーションを史的な観点で検討したいと思います。また，「モノづくり」の面に留意します。
今年度も、これまでと同様に優れた経営史（経済史も含みます）に関する古典，方法に関わる議論も取り上げて検討するとともに、現在の企業経営の動向を知るため、経営戦略に関する研究も取り上げ、実際に企業ヒアリングをも実施したいと思います。
