    近年，防災教育において仮想現実（VR）映像の活用が広がっている．VR 映像は2D 映像に比べ没入感が高く実際の災害により近い状況を体験できる特性がある．したがって，災害映像の視聴が人に与える影響も2D 映像よりも高いと考えられ，VR 映像を効果的かつ安全に防災教育で活用する為には，VR 映像の人への影響の程度を評価する必要がある．本研究では家具転倒のVR映像を用い，VR 映像の視聴が人に与える影響を生理・心理面から評価した．

    <p>We conducted disaster awareness survey among junior high school students and their parents and compared analyze the relationship between risk perception and countermeasure behavior regarding housing during an earthquake. Two results were obtained from the analysis. First, it was found that subjective injury probability had a more direct influence on coping behavior than subjective occurrence probability for both junior high school students and their parents. Second, it was found that risk perception in the coping evaluation did not influence the countermeasure behavior of junior high school students as much as that of their parents.</p>

    <p>The authors conducted questionnaire and interview survey to the listed companies in Kinki region that is assumed huge impact to business continuity due to the Nankai Trough Earthquake, in order to reveal the framework and countermeasure method for disaster prevention and business continuity in the companies. The results of the questionnaire survey are as follows; firstly, the companies that have an experience of disaster formulated the strategic plan for the preliminary countermeasures against the Nankai Trough Earthquake. Secondly, the countermeasures in the companies that have the strategic plan are in progress. Finally, the authors proposed the effective methods for promotion of preliminary countermeasures based on the results of interview survey.</p>

    <p>An infectious disease pandemic is one of the biggest risks of business continuity management for profit companies. In this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey for listed companies in the Kinki region to analyze the response and challenges to the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. As a result, before the outbreak of the COVID-19, less than 40% of the companies had a plan to deal with infectious diseases. In the COVID-19 pandemic, "lack of masks and disinfectants" and "lack of information on infectivity and virulence" were indicated as major challenges in response. The outbreak triggered changes in the way employees work, such as telecommuting, staggered work hours, and alternative commuting, in order to prevent infection.</p>

    南海トラフ地震のような周期性のある海溝型地震の特徴は，周期が長い内陸型の突発的な地震とは異なり，時間の経過とともにリスクが増加する漸増性である．2020年時点では30年以内の南海トラフ地震の発生確率は70-80％と公表されているが，このリスク情報を活用した，地域防災体制の計画・対策論は明らかでない．この計画・対策論を検討する基礎資料として，本研究では近畿圏を中心に地域防災体制のステークホルダーである，自治体，企業，住民それぞれのリスク漸増型災害への対策や意識を調査・分析した．

    <p>It is estimated that a Nankai Trough massive earthquake will occur with a probability of 70% to 80% within the next 30 years, and it is therefore urgent to implement measures for appropriate emergency response. To promote timely and organized evacuation in the case of a tsunami, it is necessary to investigate the current state of emergency preparedness and to take measures. The present study examines the current state of disaster awareness, and creates a structural model of residents' disaster awareness. We conducted a questionnaire survey in an area where there is a high risk of tsunami damage. As a result, it was clarified that personal attributes and risk perception affect the implementation of tsunami preparedness, which presents issues for promoting safe emergency evacuation during a tsunami.</p>

    In this study, we conducted a survey of daily life activity of victims and environment measurements for disaster reconstruction housing in the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster. Specifically, by questionnaire survey, we got an evaluation on the quality of life in the changing housing environment from evacuation centers to temporary housing and disaster reconstruction houses. In addition, the daily living behavior survey using the activity meter and the living environment survey by setting the temperature and humidity meter inside and outside the house were carried out. The findings were compared with those of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Disaster.

    &nbsp;In this article, we compare travel activity environment that contribute to the increase or decrease of physical activity by travel activities in neighborhood environment for the elderly. Travel activity environment was subdivided into purpose, means of transport, physical activity, time spent, intensity, and distance. We investigated the travel activity environment in two areas with different regional characteristics of new suburban town and urban area, and following points become clear.<br>&nbsp;1) In both the New Town and the urban area, the most frequent purpose for going out was &ldquo;shopping and services&rdquo;, the next was &ldquo;walking and sports&rdquo;. And going out with the purpose for &ldquo;socializing&rdquo; is few in the New Town, and it is many in the urban areas.<br>&nbsp;2) Major means of transportation for the elderly living in the New Town and the urban area was &ldquo;walking&rdquo;, and additionally in the urban area, the use of &ldquo;bicycles&rdquo; was also seen. These two moving means are used especially in neighborhood movements. Therefore, when analyzing the travel activity environment in the neighborhood, adding not only &ldquo;walking&rdquo; but also &ldquo;bicycle&rdquo; to analysis subjects is effective for grasping the actual situation.<br>&nbsp;3) The travel activity factors that influence the increase physical activity were &ldquo;walking and sports&rdquo; by walk or bicycle, &ldquo;shopping and services&rdquo; by walk or bicycle, and &ldquo;socializing&rdquo; by walk.<br>&nbsp;4) Looking at going out activities by walk, the influence of &ldquo;walking and sports&rdquo; was the largest, and the next was &ldquo;shopping and services&rdquo;. &ldquo;Socializing&rdquo; had few occurrences in the New Town, and it was a factor that causes the significantly difference in physical activity with the urban area.<br>&nbsp;5) Looking at going out activities by bicycle, effective activities for increase physical activity were &ldquo;walking and sports&rdquo; and &ldquo;shopping and services&rdquo;. In the urban area there are exercise facilities and shopping facilities within the range where they can be moved by bicycle. In addition, the topography is easy to use bicycles with less height difference. The above environment is considered to encourage the elderly to going out.<br>&nbsp;The results showed that designing neighborhood environment to be activity-supportive could have a potential to contribute to increase physical activity in daily living for the elderly.

    災害時の避難行動において、避難を行うための体力の維持に向けた現状の把握は極めて重要な要素である。災害時避難行動について要支援者（要介護者および視覚障害者）の避難に必要な距離や時間を調査し、避難に必要となる体力を測定した。避難速度は要介護者、視覚障害者、車椅子、リヤカーで差が見られた。また、視覚障害者の垂直避難においては、体力の評価のみならず、白杖の有無が避難時間に優位な差を及ぼすことを明らかにした。

Therefore, when analyzing the travel activity environment in the neighborhood, adding not only “walking” but also “bicycle” to analysis subjects is effective for grasping the actual situation.<br> 3) The travel activity factors that influence the increase physical activity were “walking and sports” by walk or bicycle, “shopping and services” by walk or bicycle, and “socializing” by walk.<br> 4) Looking at going out activities by walk, the influence of “walking and sports” was the largest, and the next was “shopping and services”. “Socializing” had few occurrences in the New Town, and it was a factor that causes the significantly difference in physical activity with the urban area.<br> 5) Looking at going out activities by bicycle, effective activities for increase physical activity were “walking and sports” and “shopping and services”. In the urban area there are exercise facilities and shopping facilities within the range where they can be moved by bicycle. In addition, the topography is easy to use bicycles with less height difference. The above environment is considered to encourage the elderly to going out.<br> The results showed that designing neighborhood environment to be activity-supportive could have a potential to contribute to increase physical activity in daily living for the elderly.

    &nbsp;<i>Introduction:</i> Combining health promotion and environmental enhancement is effective for encouraging behavioral changes in relation to improved physical activity and fitness levels among citizens, in whom sedentary lifestyles are becoming more commonplace. Previous studies reported that individual physical activity levels and exercise habits are related not only to individual awareness and motivation, but also to social support systems and the living environment. To examine differences in the amount of physical activity exerted during daily living, the typology of lifestyle groups should be taken into consideration.<br>&nbsp;<i>Methods:</i> A field survey was conducted on 24 elderly Japanese residents (age, ≥65 years) living in urban area. All participants were asked to keep a diary to record the use of their time for 3 days, and then to take part in personal interviews. The responses collected were then coded using an activity coding list. Physical activity during daily living was assessed using a triaxial accelerometer. The time use diaries were then matched with physical activity. To identify different lifestyle types, daily physical activity (excluding sleeping time) was analyzed using principal component analysis and cluster analysis.<br>&nbsp;<i>Results:</i> After categorizing residents based on activity of dailyl living and physical activity levels, the following five lifestyle types were identified: TV type, hobby type, housework type, social type, and exercise type. The amount and intensity of physical activity were significantly different by lifestyle types. The results of previous field survey (part 1) and this time were different.<br>&nbsp;<i>Discussion:</i> The results of the present field survey suggest that the lack of social types seen in the new suburban town was due to differences in the neighborhood environment, namely having fewer connections with neighbors. Walkability (i.e., how agreeable an area is for walking) was considered one of the main reasons for the gap between the regions in the proportion of the elderly characterized as exercise type. These findings are expected to provide fundamental knowledge regarding the relationship between lifestyle types and neighborhood environments. In the future, more detailed studies should be conducted on additional environmental factors such as available facilities, shops and services, sidewalks, and traffic safety.

    丘陵地帯である泉北ニュータウンに居住する高齢者を対象に、身体活動量を強度別に分類し、日常生活機能との関連性を検討した。対象者は32名(男性21名、女性11名、平均年齢74.5±5.0歳)、24時間の身体活動量を計測し、強度別に1METs程度の不活動、3METs未満の低強度、3METs以上の中強度の3パターンに分類し活動時間を計測した。自記式および聞き取りにより生活行動を記録した。老研式活動能力指標(以下、老研式)を用い、老研式と下位尺度それぞれについて、満点を「維持群」、未満点を「低下群」に分類した。外出頻度などの健康状況調査と体脂肪率測定、などの身体機能測定も実施した。両群を比較した結果、低強度活動、疾病の数、体脂肪率、TUGにそれぞれ有意差が認められた。多重線型回帰分析の結果、老研式ならびに社会的役割に寄与する独立要因として低強度活動が有意に抽出された。知的能動性に寄与する独立要因として歩数が有意な説明変数として抽出された。(著者抄録)

    In elderly individuals living in Senboku New Town, a hilly area, we investigated the association between the activities of daily living function and the intensity of their physical activities. We recruited 32 elderly individuals (21 men, 11 women; mean age 74.5 ± 5.0 years) and measured the amount of physical activity over 24 hours and categorized activity into 3 patterns according to the level of intensity (inactive, low intensity, moderate intensity), after which the activity time was measured. Subjects were then divided into a "maintenance group" and a "decline group" using the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology Index of Competence (TMIG index). We conducted a health survey, including questions such as the frequency of outings, and performed physical function measurements such as body fat percentage.Upon comparing the two groups, significant differences were observed for low-intensity activity in the TMIG index and inactivity and low-intensity activity in the social role subscale.

    This study examined the activity environment based on lifestyle types of the elderly living in suburban new town. Activity environment was defined as the relation between the following five items: living activity, activity time, active mass, active intensity, and location information. By categorized living activity and active mass, four lifestyle types were identified: Sports type, TV type, Housework type, and Hobby type. Different lifestyle types showed different activity environments. Thus, results indicated that different lifestyle types have different issues and countermeasures.

    The foodstuffs and menus for voluntary distribution needed after future emergencies are proposed based on an analysis of current food trends and a nutritional assessment of the rations distributed by Peace Boat, a non-governmental organization. <br>&nbsp;&nbsp;The distribution of food supplied by the NGO incorporated many vegetables which were likely to be in shortage for the victims, although there was insufficient meat, fish and milk/dairy products to provide protein. Meal menus consisting of multiple dishes and hot dishes were provided. An insufficiency of staple food, main dishes and milk/dairy products resulted in a nutritional value below the desirable level. We therefore focused on providing sufficient levels of energy, vitamin B<sub>2</sub>, and calcium, which were all low on the nutritional evaluation, and propose menus in consideration of their shelf lives to provide an adequate supply of these components.

By categorized living activity and active mass, four lifestyle types were identified: Sports type, TV type, Housework type, and Hobby type. Different lifestyle types showed different activity environments. Thus, results indicated that different lifestyle types have different issues and countermeasures.

    <b>【はじめに，目的】</b>高齢期の日常生活機能は加齢に伴い社会的役割,知的能動性,手段的自立の順に高次な機能から低下することが知られている。徒歩による生活空間（Walkable Neighborhoods）の狭小化により,身体活動量が減少し日常生活機能の低下を引き起こすと考える。日常生活機能と身体活動との関連について,質問紙により評価した身体活動と関連するが,加速度計により評価した身体活動では関連性はないなど,一致した見解は得られていない。今回,われわれはニュータウン居住高齢者を対象に加速度計とインタビューにより身体活動を評価し,日常生活機能との関連性を検討したので報告する。<b>【方法】</b>本対象は大阪府堺市泉北ニュータウンM校区（高齢化率31％）とし,歩行者専用緑道が整備されているが丘陵地帯のため長い坂道が多く,高齢者の多くは歩行より自動車やバスに頼る傾向がある。M校区老人会を通じ対象者を募集し,男性21名,女性11名,計32名（平均74.5歳）となった。対象者には任意の連続する2日間を選択し,1日目は身体活動量調査,2日目（24時間後）には生活行動調査を行った。身体活動量の計測には,3軸加速度計ならびGPSを使用した。24時間計測した加速度計結果と生活行動記録を照合し,1日の身体活動量時間から睡眠と食事を除いた活動を強度別に,不活動（テレビと読書）,低強度活動（家事と身の回り用事）,中強度活動（外出,運動,仕事）の3つに分類した。日常生活機能は老研式活動能力指標（以下,TMIG index）を用いて評価した。TMIG index総得点および下位尺度得点の満点者を「維持群」,未満点者を「低下群」とした。外出頻度（4件法）,運動変容ステージ（6件法）,主観的健康感（4件法）,疾病数,地域活動（4件法）,うつ傾向を質問紙調査にて実施した。さらに体脂肪率,5回椅子立ち上がりテスト（CST）,Timed up and Go test（以下,TUG）,各2回実施し速い方を採用した。群間比較にはX<sup>2</sup>検定,対応のない検定,Mann-WhitneyのU検定を用いた。TMIG indexならび下位尺度を従属変数とし,各検査項目ならび身体活動を独立変数とした多重線型回帰分析（ステップワイズ法）を行った（有意水準は0.05）。<b>【倫理的配慮，説明と同意】</b>大阪市立大学生活科学研究科研究倫理委員会の規定に基づき,対象者に調査の目的や内容および安全性について十分説明し,書面による同意を得た。<b>【結果】</b>「維持群」と「低下群」を比較した結果,TMIG indexでは低強度活動（P=0.005）,疾病の数（P=0.025）,体脂肪率（P=0.040）,TUG（p=0.039）,知的能動性では歩数（P=0.015）,疾病の数（P=0.023）,体脂肪率（P=0.043）,社会的役割では不活動（P=0.020）,低強度活動（P=0.017）,とそれぞれ有意差が認められた。手段的自立は「低下群」2名と少なく群間比較は実施せず。TMIG index,知的能動性,社会的役割をそれぞれ従属変数とした多重線型回帰分析の結果,TMIG indexならびに社会的役割では,低強度活動が有意な説明変数として抽出された（TMIG index：P=0.040,社会的役割：P=0.049）。<b>【考察】</b>本研究では,身体活動を加速度計とインタビューにより強度別に分類した強度別身体活動量と日常生活機能との関連性を検討した結果,中強度の身体活動と有意差は確認できず,家事や身の回り作業など活動強度が小さい身体活動時間と関連性があることが示唆された。<b>【理学療法学研究としての意義】</b>丘陵地帯の居住高齢者を対象とした健康増進において,日常生活機能の低下を予防するには,運動といった中強度の身体活動より,家事など低強度の身体活動を増やすことが有用である可能性が考えられる。

    専業主婦については、活動量や運動量の制限などが報告されている一方、若年期からの地域とのつながりにより外出頻度は維持されやすいと考えられる。そこで高齢者で報告されている外出頻度と主観的健康感との関連が専業主婦でもみられるのか、年齢による影響を明らかにすることを目的とした。研究は大阪府堺市南区の一地区内の全世帯(3,069世帯)に無記名自記式の質問紙調査を行い、回答数1,820(回収率58.0%)の中から専業主婦女性701名を分析対象とした。質問項目は最近1週間の外出頻度、主観的健康感について尋ねた。その結果、外出頻度は60代、70代後半、80代以上と段階的に減少した。主観的健康感は加齢とともに不安あり群が増加した。外出頻度と主観的健康感の関連は50代以上で外出頻度が減少するとともに主観的健康感が低下する傾向を認めた。以上より、健康維持、増進のためには50代から年代ごとの取り組みが必要であることが示唆された。(著者抄録)

This study aimed to identify the relationship between the frequency of outings and self-rated health in housewives, and investigate age-related effects. Anonymous self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 3,069 households in one district of Minami-ku, Sakai-shi, Osaka, and, of the 1,820 responses (response rate: 58.0%), 701 housewives were analyzed. Questionnaire items included the frequency of outings and self-rated health over the past one week. As the results of the questionnaire, the frequency of outings gradually decreased as the age advanced from their 60s to 80s or over. Regarding self-rated health, the number of subjects with anxiety increased with age. Among the subjects aged 50 or over, there was a decreasing trend in the frequency of outings and self-rated health. The findings suggest the need to take appropriate measures to maintain and promote the health of housewives aged 50 and over according to their age group.

    It was clarified that the typical injured case was femur fracture according to the casualty survey after Hyogoken-Nanbu earthquake. Some of the injured person were happened in on-damaged buildings. This indicates the importance of elucidating the mechanism of injury in order to consider ways of reducing human suffering during earthquakes.     A big earthquake of M8.0 occurred in Wenchuan, which is in the northern part of the Sichuan, China on 12^<th>, May 2008. According to this earthquake, about 380,000 people were wounded and 87,000 were killed or missing. 216,000 buildings were totally collapsed and 4,150,000 buildings were severly damaged. We conducted a survey in the severly damaged areas in Sichuan on Dec. 2008. In this paper, we mentioned about "one to one" system which carried out by the central government for restoration of damaged areas. And also, the ground plan of restoration housing were presented.

    We integrated the comprehensive casualties' database from some surveys carried out after the 1995 Hyogoken-Nanbu Earthquake for the purpose of clarifying the mechanism of human casualties. In this study, research analyzing the relationship among deaths, serious injury, and building damage has been conducted using the comprehensive database. As a result of this investigation, it became clear that there were differences in deaths and serious injuries depending on various factors (building damage, type of injury, the principle part of the body that was struck etc.) The results showed that the death ratio and the serious injury ratio of the advanced age were greatly influenced by the building damage comparing with the other generations.

    1995年の阪神・淡路大震災や2011年の東日本大震災などの自然災害において、高齢者や障害者などを含む災害弱者の人的被害は深刻で、災害弱者対策は高齢化が急速に進展するわが国の防災戦略において大きな課題となっている。災害弱者の被害が大きくなる要因としては、身体機能の低下、認知機能の低下などに加え、情報伝達、共助体制などが考えられる。これらの要因は個人によっても多様であり、同じ個人でも状況は逐一変化し、複数の要因が複合的に影響している。したがって、災害弱者対策は高齢者や障害者の避難支援のイメージが強いものの、平常時および災害時における情報伝達、情報共有といった情報に焦点を当てた対策も重視され始めている。従来取り組まれている地域での共助体制の整備に加え、災害弱者のリスク認知、防災知識・意識、判断力、体力などを総合的に考慮し、実災害時の状況を多角的に想定した個別の支援計画が必要とされている。(著者抄録)

    &lt;u&gt;目的&lt;/u&gt; 東日本大震災において、「福祉仮設」は応急仮設住宅の一形態として高齢者・障害者のグループホーム（以下GH）が多く供給されたが、自治体により対応は異なる。宮城県石巻市では144戸(県283戸)が建設されている。本研究は、石巻市の「福祉仮設」の実態を把握し、今後の大震災における教訓を得ることを目的として行った。&lt;br&gt;&lt;u&gt;方法&lt;/u&gt; 関連データ蒐集、GH運営者・制度外GH運営者インタビューと施設見学。期間2016年8月～12月。&lt;br&gt;&lt;u&gt;結果&lt;/u&gt; 石巻市の福祉仮設住宅は「GH型仮設住宅」をさし3種類ある。①高齢者用は８棟70戸、②障害者用は８棟56戸、③多様な困難を抱える人々用の制度外GH型仮設住宅は2棟18戸供給された。高齢者・障害者用の福祉仮設についてはGHの再建等により順次解体され、2015年8月で高齢者用７棟61戸、障害者用4棟28戸となっている。一般仮設住宅の入居制度については①妊産婦、②乳幼児、③高齢者、④障害者世帯の順位で優先枠が設けられ、在宅の高齢者・障害者はそちらに住むか、仮設住宅に適応できない人々は、被災住宅やその他のところに避難した。明らかになったことは、①GH型仮設住宅が主に既存のGH居住者用となったために、在宅の高齢者、障害者がバリアフリー等が不十分な一般仮設住宅での生活になったこと、②優先戸数が少なかったため仮設住宅入居時期が遅れたこと、③制度外GH型仮設住宅の設置については効果があったことである。

    専業主婦については、活動量や運動量の制限などが報告されている一方、若年期からの地域とのつながりにより外出頻度は維持されやすいと考えられる. そこで高齢者で報告されている外出頻度と主観的健康感との関連が専業主婦でもみられるのか、年齢による影響を明らかにすることを目的とした. 研究は大阪府堺市南区の一地区内の全世帯(3,069世帯)に無記名自記式の質問紙調査を行い、回答数1,820(回収率58.0%)の中から専業主婦701名を分析対象とした. 質問項目は最近1週間の外出頻度、主観的健康感について尋ねた. その結果、外出頻度は60代、70代後半、80代以上と段階的に減少した. 主観的健康感は加齢とともに不安あり群が増加した. 外出頻度と主観的健康感の関連は50代以上で外出頻度が減少するとともに主観的健康感が低下する傾向を認めた. 以上より、健康維持、増進のためには50代から年代ごとの取り組みが必要であることが示唆された.Physical activity levels and the amount of exercise in housewives are reportedly low; however, a high frequency of outings is likely to be maintained due to connection with local residents. This study aimed to identify the relationship between the frequency of outings and self-rated health in housewives, and investigate age-related effects. Anonymous self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 3,069 households in one district of Minami-ku, Sakai-shi, Osaka, and, of the 1,820 responses (response rate: 58.0%), 701 housewives were analyzed. Questionnaire items included the frequency of outings and self-rated health over the past one week. As the results of the questionnaire, the frequency of outings gradually decreased as the age advanced from their 60s to 80s or over. Regarding self-rated health, the number of subjects with anxiety increased with age. Among the subjects aged 50 or over, there was a decreasing trend in the frequency of outings and self-rated health. The findings suggest the need to take appropriate measures to maintain and promote the health of housewives aged 50 and over according to their age group.

    It was clarified that the typical injured case was femur fracture according to the casualty survey after Hyogoken-Nanbu earthquake. Some of the injured person were happened in on-damaged buildings. This indicates the importance of elucidating the mechanism of injury in order to consider ways of reducing human suffering during earthquakes. In this study, we developed a thigh model which is made of silicon and a mock bone and includes an acceleration meter. We made an experiment that furniture crash test and evaluated a risk of femur fracture.

    In this paper, it is reported that an interview survey of evacuation behavior after the great east japan earthquake in Miyako city, Iwate Prefecture. The survey was conducted in May and June 2011, 96 evacuees who live in tsugaruishi district, miyako district and Taro replied. From the result and analysis, it is clarified characteristics of an evacuation site, distance, time, trigger, way of information obtaining and background knowledge. Comparing the three districts, it is clarified that relationship between evacuation route and evacuation site in each district.

    A big earthquake of M8.0 occurred in Wenchuan, which is in the northern part of the Sichuan, China on 12^&lt;th&gt;, May 2008. According to this earthquake, about 380,000 people were wounded and 87,000 were killed or missing. 216,000 buildings were totally collapsed and 4,150,000 buildings were severly damaged. We conducted a survey in the severly damaged areas in Sichuan on Dec. 2008. In this paper, we mentioned about &quot;one to one&quot; system which carried out by the central government for restoration of damaged areas. And also, the ground plan of restoration housing were presented.

    The immediate victims of the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nanbu Earthquake included 5,502 dead and 41,527 wounded. The death rate among victims in collapsed buildings was purported to be as high as 90%. However, we have no way to examine how the victim got dead or wounded, except for autopsy and interview with the bereaved. We need knowledge in detail about what part of building or furniture caused casualty and how it was occurred. Therfore, we aimed to make a dummy to measure human body damage due to collapsed buildings or toppled furniture. This dummy will be used in large-scale fracture tests of buildings to evaluate human body damage due to earthquakes.

    We integrated the comprehensive casualties&#039; database from some surveys carried out after the 1995 Hyogoken-Nanbu Earthquake for the purpose of clarifying the mechanism of human casualties. In this study, research analyzing the relationship among deaths, serious injury, and building damage has been conducted using the comprehensive database. As a result of this investigation, it became clear that there were differences in deaths and serious injuries depending on various factors (building damage, type of injury, the principle part of the body that was struck etc.) The results showed that the death ratio and the serious injury ratio of the advanced age were greatly influenced by the building damage comparing with the other generations.
