    <p>A silyl-tethered dihydride iron complex was synthesized by photolysis of a monohydride iron complex bearing a pendant hydrosilyl group. The coordination mode of the two hydrides and the tethered silyl ligand was investigated by <sup>1</sup>H NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations. Despite the Si–H interactions, the prepared complex readily eliminated molecular hydrogen upon heating or addition of L-type ligands, namely, pyridine or CO, to afford new silyl-tethered complexes. Notably, the pyridine complex exhibited alcohol dehydrogenation activity.</p>

    <p>Hydrogenation of chlorosilane was achieved in acetonitrile using NaBH<sub>4</sub>, a safe and easy-to-handle reagent. This reaction converted Si–Cl portion(s) in organosilanes into Si–H portion(s) without hydrogenation of cyano, chloro, and aldehyde groups on an alkyl substituent of the Si reagents. In addition, the Si–Cl/Si–H exchange reaction was applicable to dichlorodisilane without Si–Si bond cleavage.</p>

    Hydrogen is a promising potential source of environmentally-clean energy. However, the transport, storage, and handling of hydrogen gas have some problems because of its physical properties. Transition metal-catalyzed hydrogen generation has attracted significant attention as a resolution method for these problems and can be classified into three major types, including (i) decomposition of formic acid, (ii) dehydrogenation of ammonia borane, (iii) dehydrogenation of methanol. In this topics, the recent researches on hydrogen generation catalyzed by group 8 transition-metal complex are described, and the plausible reaction pathway of these reactions is also described.
