文学部提供「美学概論Ⅰ・Ⅱ」では、近代美学成立以後、現代に至る主要なドイツの美学思想ないし芸術論を編年的に紹介している。同「哲学史通論Ⅲ・Ⅳ」では、デカルトからカントまでの西洋近代の主要哲学を編年的に紹介している。また同「人間文化基礎論」では、現代文化を捉える諸々のキーワードを巡って、学生に関連資料を参照させ、調べた内容を発表させ、さらに学生間の討論を促すなど、哲学歴史学科の専攻生に必須の研究態度を身につけさせるための基礎演習を行っている。共通教育科目の「芸術の世界」では、芸術と美の関係、芸術と現実の関係、芸術と社会との関係などいくつかのテーマを設定し、具体的な作品を呈示しながら、芸術概念を哲学的に解釈する試みを行っている。
