不斉合成
非平面多芳香族化合物の合成法および機能開発：湾曲した多環芳香族炭化水素であるヘリセンは，その非平面π共役構造に由来する特異な電子的・光学的特性，およびらせん不斉を内在する分子骨格など構造化学・合成化学の観点から多くの注目を集めている。合成化学的アプローチから新規らせん分子骨格を有するヘリセン，および多重ヘリセン類の立体選択的合成を達成し，それらの特異な構造を明らかにしてきた。具体的には，①C-H結合活性化反応を活用したヘリセン類の効率的合成法の開発，②大きく湾曲した多重ヘリセン類の立体選択的合成，③Pd触媒[2+2+2]交差環化三量化による三重ヘリセンの触媒的エナンチオ選択的合成，に関するものが顕著な成果として挙げられる。
面不斉遷移金属錯体を基盤とする立体選択的有機合成反応の開発：近年、新しいタイプの配位子として、ホスフィンーオレフィン配位子の研究が盛んになっている。この新しいタイプの配位子は、tripod錯体の三点配位形式をとりながらも、二座配位子と同じ様に、中心金属に対して４電子供与体として働くユニークな配位子である。我々は、このホスフィン-オレフィン配位子の母骨格としてハーフメタロセン錯体（具体的にはアレーンクロム錯体、およびCpマンガン錯体）を有するユニークな面不斉遷移金属錯体P-Olefin配位子の開発に成功している。
