In the field of construction, cost estimation is conducted before the actual construction work. In the cost estimation, the required items for the construction and their quantities are summarized as a document. To validate the document, a supervision process is conducted. However, there is not so much time to perform the accurate validation for all items. Therefore, the workflow depends on the supervision workers' decisions based on past construction trends.
To solve this problem, we consider the automation of cost estimation supervision by using data from past construction documents. If we can analyze the data and understand the
relationship between items and their quantities, we can automate the supervision process based on those rules.
In this study, we prepare a database from the past cost estimation documents and develop an efficiency system for the construction cost estimation supervision.

Fuzzy classifiers can linguistically explain its mechanism while achieving high classification accuracy. In this paper, we aim to explain the classification mechanism in dynamic environments where the classification boundary changes over time. For this purpose, we propose an online updating of fuzzy classifiers by means of Confidence-Weighted Learning. We have confirmed that the model can linguistically explain the classification mechanism in dynamic environments by examining how the weights of the fuzzy If-Then rules change.

In area surveillance problems, planning an effective route is important for both of cost and safety. One solution is to transform a surveillance problem to another route planning problem such as a traveling salesman problem or a vehicle routing problem. However, conventional problems are limited in their settings (e.g., route expression), which cause difference between the models and the real world situation. Another solution is to evaluate routes by modeling and simulating the problem environment, for approaching the real world. In this paper, we develop a new simulation environment for surveillance, then propose a route optimization algorithm in the environment.

This paper tackles area surveillance with a moving camera by change detection. None of the existing datasets for change detection meets a surveillance scenario where a camera is mounted on a moving platform and pointed in the direction of moving. Thus, this paper creates a new dataset including several challenging points. For this dataset, this paper employs a composable method and proposes some components. To evaluate the proposed components, some corresponding classic methods were also tested on the dataset. As a result, the proposals outperformed them. Moreover, this paper investigated the relationship between the parameters of the components and their performance.

In the realm of soccer, a substantial amount of data analysis has been undertaken. Although analyses using tracking data are prevalent, those involving gaze information have not progressed as much due to the challenges associated with measuring gaze. However, in soccer, gaze and visual information are critical features for players when making situational judgments. Concurrently, gaze tracking technology utilizing virtual reality (VR) has been advancing. In this study, we recreated logs of soccer simulation 2D games by converting into 3D models for more realistic visualization. We not only reproduced the positional information available from simple logs into the 3D model but also created cameras representing each player's viewpoint and performed Z-axis interpolation to replicate an environment that closely resembles real-world soccer. Subsequently, we conducted a survey with participants, comparing 2D and 3D models. Although the survey revealed numerous challenges, the 3D model developed was a step closer to acquiring the field of view information of experts, akin to a real soccer environment. The paper also describes some directions of future research which may include data augmentation with actual soccer data and extending this 3D model to VR, enabling gaze measurement. Ultimately, it is conceivable that analyzing the gaze movements as perceived by experts and implementing them into the player model of robot soccer could become feasible.

Product sales in supermarkets are affected by a variety of external factors. One of the key insights in marketing is to infer the impact of these external factors from sales information and to determine the sensitivity to various factors. In this study, based on food sales data in supermarkets over a five-year period from 2018, we attempted to classify products by the degree of influence of external factors such as COVID-19 by using STL decomposition to isolate seasonal variations and residual components and clustering these components. The results shows that there are some products that were significantly affected by external factors. These product-specific characteristics can be expected to provide useful information for future marketing and sales strategies.

In this paper, we propose a method of position estimation using a geomagnetic sensor for automatic control of a mini 4WD AI machine. First, a mini 4WD AI machine is driven on a circular course, and the geomagnetic sensor is used to measure the horizontal geomagnetic field while the machine is running. Since the geomagnetic field ideally forms a regular circle when the machine is running around the course, a circle model is constructed from the measured values. Using the center point of the circle model, the orientation of the machine at each measurement time is obtained, and its position on the course is estimated. Numerical experiments are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Using a simulator in advance is practical to check whether the machine operates without any problems when controlling it. This is true even for controlling Mini 4WD. However, such dedicated simulators are not currently available to the public. This paper describes our efforts to create a physics simulator using Unreal Engine 5, a general-purpose game engine. The simulator helps develop intelligent control systems without physical Mini 4WD machines. The simulator can also be used to reproduce various sensors and obtain ideal values or to obtain detailed information on conditions that are difficult to obtain with sensors, such as the ground state of a tire.

Recently, infectious diseases and conflicts have affected our lives. There is a lot of reports of changes in customer purchasing behavior and lifestyle behavior due to COVID-19. However, if we can view that as a critical social event and clarify the relationship between behavior such as the movement of people and posting on SNS and changes in purchasing behavior, it will be possible to predict the effects of similar events in the future. In this study, we focus on alternative data, which are thought to be leading factors, and build a model to estimate the degree of change. From the constructed model, we show that explanatory factors related to Google Trends values and people's movements change purchasing behavior.

Proceedings of the Fuzzy System Symposium 2022 Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Intelligent Informatics

     More details

In this paper, we describe a method for automatically controlling the speed of a mini 4WD car through the localization using image processing. A camera captures images of a mini 4WD car in motion, and its position is estimated from the difference between the background and the captured images. The mini 4WD car is then controlled based on the position of the mini 4WD car and the control rules that are specified in advance. There is a communication delay during the control of the mini 4WD car. This problem is worked around by setting the control rules so that the communication delay is taken into account when the control rules are specified.

Proceedings of the Fuzzy System Symposium 2022 Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Intelligent Informatics

     More details

Fuzzy classifiers can linguistically explain its classification mechanism while achieving high classification accuracy. In this paper, we aim to explain the classification mechanism in dynamic environments where the classification boundary changes over time. For this purpose, a fuzzy classifier is constructed in an online manner by means of Confidence-Weighted learning. Online learning allows the classifier to be trained from a small number of training patterns. We have confirmed that the learning model can linguistically explain the classification mechanism by examining how the weights of the fuzzy if-then rules in the fuzzy classifier so that the fuzzy classifier dynamically follows the changes in the classification boundary.

     More details

Time-series prediction using self-organizing maps is applied to RoboCup formation prediction. The formation of players are converted into a numerical vector, which is used as an input to the self-organizing map. The units in the self-organizing map are arranged in a two-dimensional or three-dimensional way, which allows time-series processing. A series of numerical experiments are conducted to investigate the effectiveness of the self-organizing maps.

Proceedings of the Fuzzy System Symposium 2021 Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Intelligent Informatics

     More details

In recent years, the industrial application of autonomous mobile robots such as UAVs has been spreading rapidly in various fields. In this context, several studies focus on area surveillance. In the area surveillance, autonomous robots that are equipped with a camera move around a designated area for surveillance. Travel routes of the robots must be determined appropriately to reduce costs while increasing the efficiency of surveillance. In this paper, we formulate route optimization problems for autonomous robots in the area surveillance. In the formulation, we assume that the occurrence of anomalies in an area is assumed to be uniform, and we maximize the rate at which anomalies are detected. Heuristic optimization methods are applied to the formulated problems. Furthermore, simple experiments are conducted using these optimization methods.

Proceedings of the Fuzzy System Symposium 2020 Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Intelligent Informatics

     More details

In this paper, we report a case study of constructing a machine learning model from real data. The case report in this paper is to determine whether a child needs school support or not. This case study uses a Yamano-style screening sheet to determine the support for elementary school children. Conventionally, the decision on whether or not support is needed was made by a person. However, when the number of children increases, the amount of support exceeds the tractable amount. In addition, there was a problem that it was difficult to obtain a common standard of support-decision because of the total dependence of such decisions on local governments and schools. Therefore, a support-decision model was created by machine learning from screening data that were collected from the elementary schools. The procedures used to construct the model from real data, the accuracy of the model obtained, the lessons learned from the series of work, and future issues are presented.
