    <p>Recently, the developments on the low Reynolds number aircraft such as micro air vehicle and unmanned aircraft for Mars exploration have been increased. In this study, Oswald efficiency factor of the wing, which is available to estimate aircraft performance, was predicted through wind tunnel tests at a Reynolds number of 1 × 10<sup>4</sup>. Rectangular flat-plate wings with aspect ratios varying from 0.5 to 5 were tested in this study. Although efficiency factor of the wing with aspect ratio of 0.5 was close to 1, it decreased significantly as the aspect ratio increased. As the aspect ratio increased more than 3, the efficiency factor decreased to less than 0.4. The efficiency factor of the rectangular wing with the thin circular arc airfoil with 3%<i>c</i> camber, which shows large lift-to-drag ratio at the present Reynolds number, was larger than that of thin flat plate wing. The two efficiency factors were set to estimate the drag coefficient of the wing having non-linear lift curve. However, the efficiency factor of the wing at this low Reynolds number was much lower than that of commonly used airplane wings. </p>

    <p>Vortices generated in a solid rocket motor may cause pressure oscillations, which cause problems such as deteriorated flight performance and payload damage. The building-cube method (BCM) solver is expected to accurately predict such vortex flows using high-order schemes as well as easily manage complex configurations. The aim of this study is to establish an analysis method for the internal flow of a solid rocket motor using the BCM. Computational results obtained in this study are compared with analysis data based on other solvers as well as experimental data for validation. The BCM solver is applied to the validate the converging-diverging verification nozzle, upper jet model, and propellant surface ejection model. Furthermore, it effectively captures the three-dimensional (3D) trailing vortex downstream of the inhibitor and the propellant surface injection flow. In general, the 3D BCM solver accurately reproduces the internal flow field of the solid rocket motor. </p>

    A wing of a human-powered airplane is generally constructed with foam, balsa wood, plastic film and
    CFRP to achieve light-weight structure. In this study, we physically built the deformed wing model to measure the deformation by using 3D scanner. CFD was used to investigate the influence of the deformation of airfoil on aerodynamic performance in cruise condition through the comparison with original shape. As a result, the deformation causes the fluctuation of pressure distribution, and it also deteriorates the aerodynamic coefficient.

    Corrugated wings are expected to improve aerodynamic performance due to vortices generated by irregular shapes at low Reynolds number region. It is difficult to observe the influence of vortices generated from the unevenness of the shape by experiments. In this research, the flowfields around corrugated wings were calculated using Computational Fluid Dynamics. From the visualization result, it indicates that the improvement in aerodynamic performance is caused by the shape and position of unevenness.
